How this was worked out

  • We started from all 12,253 Squamish parcels (ParcelMap BC) and kept those of 0.8 to 15 ha, excluding strata units, roads and parks.
  • We overlaid District of Squamish zoning, OCP land-use designations and the provincial 200-year floodplain.
  • Each parcel was scored out of 100: zoning 40 points, parcel size 30 and flood safety 30.
  • The map shows all 113 shortlisted parcels. Only 36 of them are fully outside the floodplain.

Limitation: servicing, slopes and whether a parcel is already built on were not checked.
