How this was worked out
- We overlaid the City of Vancouver designated floodplain on the City's building footprints (2015, 154,045 buildings). 2,605 buildings fall inside the floodplain.
- A "home" is a building on residentially zoned land: RA-1 (678), R1 (488), CD-1 and FCCDD (457), and RT, RM and R3 (157). The other 825 buildings are non-residential.
- Neighbourhoods are the City's 22 local areas.
Limitation: these are buildings, not households. An apartment building counts once, and a few may be garages or outbuildings on residential lots.
